Start Reg Organizer. Select “File” – “Export the Entire Registry…” in the main menu.

Enter the file name in the dialog box and the program will save all data from the registry to this file. After the process is over, you can pack the backup copy (because the output file will be rather large, about 100 megabytes) and save it to a separate folder.

To restore the registry from such a backup copy after a failure, take the archive with the registry file and import it with Reg Organizer. Select “Import Data from a Registry File…” on the “File” menu and select the unpacked file with the backup copy of your registry in the dialog box. For example, I stopped using the Firefox browser not long ago because I was quite fed up with its bugs I had come across all the time. So I lost my patience on one wonderful day and removed Firefox. That was when the problems followed. The system kept trying to open all pages and links in the program that wasn’t there – Firefox. Even after I reset the settings and set Internet Explorer as the default browser, it did not solve the problem. First of all, we should start from what causes the Windows operating system to slow down. It is all caused by fragmented system registry files, removed and unnecessary registry entries remaining in files. Now let’s take one at a time.

Fragmentation

It occurs when a file is located on difference disk sectors. As a result of adding new part to, updating and overwriting files, their parts may be saved to different sectors that are located quite far from each other. It reduces the rate files are read at. Imagine that you have a large stand where you keep a lot of various literature (a book is a file), but not as regular books, but as separate chapters. Moreover, the first chapter may stand on one shelf, while the second one is on another shelf in the corner, the third one is on the third shelf in the middle, and the forth one is located on the forth shelf between two chapters from a completely different book. Defragmentation

As you can judge from the name, it is a process opposite to fragmentation. It means that the chapters of one book are arranged on one shelf in the proper order. Now imagine that you are standing near this stand and read a book like this. You will spend considerably less time on searching for the necessary chapter and the total time you will need to read the book will be reduced. The hard drive head also finds information faster in the computer and, as a result, the system works faster.

It is the heart of the operating system, it stores all settings and configuration of the operating system and a lot of software installed on the computer.
